About Boca Helping Hands

Children's Assistance Program: CAP helps working parents by providing limited financial assistance for summer camp, after-school care, and day care for qualifying Boca Raton residents of 1 year or longer. Those interested in applying for CAP have to go through a specific screening process to meet criteria to be approved. Children must already be enrolled in order to apply for financial assistance. Hot Meal Program: A hot, nutritious meal is served (6) days a week in our Food Center. This program is open to anyone, regardless of county of residencies. Hours of Operation: Monday - Saturday: 11:00am - 12:30pm *Thursday: 4:30 - 6:00pm. Pantry Bag Pickup: Pantry Bag Pickup: Monday - Friday: 9:00am - 12:30pm and 1:00pm - 3:00pm. Thursdays: 4:30pm - 6:00pm. Saturdays: 9:00am - 12:30pm. Pantry Bag Registration: Mondays - Friday: 9:00am - 12:30pm and 1:00pm - 3:00pm. Backpacks Program: BHH Backpacks addresses the critical problem by sending backpacks home each Friday with elementary school children. The backpacks contain six (6) meals, two (2) shelf stable milks, two (2) juice boxes and three (3) snacks. - Boca Helping Hands provides many resources to clients facing financial difficulties. Limited Financial Assistance*: Boca Helping Hands provides limited, financial assistance to qualifying Boca Raton residents in crisis. Clients may receive limited financial assistance in a twelve month period for aid with rent (must have a 3 day notice from landlord), utilities (must have final notice from FPL or water department). Individuals are reviewed on a case by case basis. There are limited funds available. Clients have to go thru a specific screening process to meet criteria to be approved. RENT: Must have a 3 or 5 day notice. FPL: Electrical, light bill assistance. Must have a final notice. Financial assistance does not pay any deposits or reconnect fees. WATER BILL ASSISTANCE: Must have a past due notice. Children must already be enrolled in order to apply for financial assistance. *** Prescription Medication Assistance: The Resource Center provides emergency, one time financial assistance with prescription medication (does not include prescriptions for narcotic or anti-depressants) for those individuals that qualify for the program. In addition, the Resource Center helps connect clients to additional resources in the area. **** Discounted Bus Passes: Individuals wishing to purchase discounted 31-day Palm Tran bus passes can do so at Boca Helping Hands on Tuesdays from 9:00am 12:30pm. 1-day bus passes are also available for purchase. Discounted rates depend on income eligibility. In order to purchase discounted bus passes, individuals must provide accepted valid documentation based on Palm Tran's guidelines.
