The centers serve as a place where older people find community and activities that enrich their lives.
Nutrition is central to the goal of promoting the physical and mental health of eligible older adults who visit the centers.
A plan for the availability of food is provided to participants in this program before or during emergencies and weather disasters.
In addition to the meal program for the elderly, seniors receive a variety of enriching activities.
Meals are planned by a registered dietician and correspond to 1/3 of the daily RDA/AI for seniors.
Their organization operates four Senior Centers located in Clay, Harris, Randolph, and Stewart counties in Georgia.
To ensure accessibility to the Centers, transport services are provided.
Lunchtime congregate meals are offered five days a week.
