The Alvin Senior Center is open to the public year round. This 10,000 square foot facility features: two large meeting rooms with full kitchens, media room including four internet ready computers, TV lounge, craft room, activity room and exercise room. The primary purpose of the Alvin Senior Center is to provide a public facility where seniors in the Alvin area can meet for social, recreational, educational, and fitness opportunities. The Melvin Knapp Activity Center is a recreation facility for active adults 50 years of age and older. The center is operated by Pearland Parks & Recreation and offers a variety of programs, activities, trips and classes that are either low-cost or absolutely free. Membership to the center is $25 for Pearland residents and just $50 a year for non-residents. When obtaining a membership, please bring your driver's license or Texas ID card. The facility includes a fitness room complete with treadmills, stationary bikes and a weightlifting machine. The center also features a computer lab and internet access.
