The Viking Sal Senior Center is a community recreation center that has been serving area residents 55 years of age and older since 1978. The Center's objective is to serve as a community focal point on aging, where older people, individually or in groups, come together for services and activities that increase their involvement in and with the community. These programs consist of a variety of services and support activities, including education, research, advocacy, leadership development, volunteer opportunities, health, nutrition, and social work. The Centre also serves as a community resource for information on aging and the development of new approaches to aging programs. The Centre welcomes new participants and volunteers. Viking salons rely on community support to maintain their programs and services. In addition to Viking Salt-based activities, the Center hosts the Senior Meal Program and the Senior Outreach and Connections Program. The programs and activities are described below.
