Family Promise Of Lower Cape Fear

4938 Oleander Drive
Wilmington, NC - 28403
(910) 769-4730
Provides services for homeless families. Emergency Shelter Program This program is designed to provide families with children emergency shelter and case management services while they work to regain self-sufficiency. To qualify, a family must be homeless according to the federal (HUD) definition. Check out the HUD definition by clicking here. They can assist up to four families (or fourteen people) at the same time. Families spend the night in local community facilities. One facility has the families for a week, and on Sunday there is a rotation to the next community facility. Throughout the day, their families will be located on the Day Center at 4938 Oleander Drive. The ultimate goal of all families is to find permanent housing in a sustainable manner and work hard to achieve this goal. To qualify for the service promised by the Lower Cape Fear Family. A person(s) must be homeless and have at least one child under the age of 17. Wilmington, North Carolina, defines homelessness. By car, or in the street, you live with friends or relatives (and you can document that you cannot stay there), you live in a hotel/motel. All potential guests of the Family Promise of the Lower Cape Fear must go through an admission process. 1. Call (910-769-4730) for pre-screen for eligibility. Family Promise's program and mission will be explained to you. If you are interested in the program at this time, you will be informed about which documents are required for a complete application. The next step is the interview in person. All adult members of the family must attend this interview. A mutually appropriate time to interview will be discussed at this point. 2. Arrive for the interview on time. Bring all the required documents with you for this interview to have a full application for the file. Necessary documents needed: The air-in process: NC-IDs for all adult household members Social Security cards for all adult household members. Vaccination records for children. Birth certificates of children. **** If your child is not your natural child, you will be required to provide documentation that you have legal custody of this child. 3. If the program is something you are interested in after the interview and it is determined that your family qualifies for Family Promise. They are not an immediate shelter. ALL adult family members will undergo a background check. This will take up to two days. Nothing immediately excludes a family from the background check, except sexual assault, arson, and the production of methamphetamine. They   do not allow sex offenders to their program due to the family nature of the program. The 2 days also allow you and your family to think about the program and determine if it's right for you. 4. At the end of the 2 days, if a family is still interested in the program, call the Day Care Center (910-769-4730). The case manager will review the program and ask the family if they have any questions. If both parties agree on the family's participation in the program, arrangements will be made for final paperwork and entry into the program. Hours of Operation: Monday to Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ..

Lunch is the biggest and most significant meal of the day. Because their low-income guests and homeless people often endanger their health and their access to healthy food is limited, they strive to make their offer as nutritious as possible. Using the donated food, their volunteers prepare meat, starch, cooked vegetables, and fresh salads for each lunch break. Who can use the soup kitchen? Homeless and low-income people and working families who, after paying their rent, utilities, and other expenses, have little or nothing to put food on their children's tables. Many mothers come to prepare meals because they skip meals at home so that their children can eat well. If you eat enough here, you will be able to eat until the next day. There is absolutely no cost for this service or any of their services. ..
