Mullis Community Senior Center is designated as the Senior Services Center for San Juan Island and hosts the island's Senior Meal Program, monthly pancake breakfast, annual craft fair, annual parking lot sale, and boasts one of the island's largest event venues. They also co-host several recreational exercise classes for seniors, as well as weekly activities such as mahjong, book clubs, first aid classes, lectures, knitting, painting, bingo, quilting, and trips to off-island. The mission at the Lopez Island Senior Center is to assist seniors in remaining independent with the goal of post phoning or eliminating the need for residential or institutional care. Supportive services are offered to family members and those caring for the elderly. Some of these services are: senior Information Assistance, Congregate Meals, Meals on Wheels, Respite Care, Case Management, Family Caregiver Support and Transportation Assistance. Lopez Island Senior Center provides programs and resources for those over the age of 60. LISC serves hot lunches on Wednesday and Fridays, included is a delivery service for those seniors who are home-bound ( Meals on Wheels). Staff ask for a modest donation to cover costs.
