On Friday September 4, 2015, the Town of Mount Carmel Senior Center held its grand opening with catered food, hot coffee and live music. We want our seniors to feel like this is their home away from home. After a while, the people here become like family to them. The facility is located just off U.S. Highway 11W at 100 East Main Street on the top floor of Town Hall. Anyone age 60 or above is welcome to join. The center features a well-equipped kitchen, large dining room, a living room with a couch, chairs and a large flat-screen TV. There is an exercise room to help members keep in shape. Serving lunch from 11 a.m. until noon Monday through Thursday, the center serves breakfast every Friday at 9:00 a.m. The center also sponsors a "Meals on Wheels" program for those seniors who are homebound or who, for whatever reason, are otherwise unable to attend in person.
