The Upper Darby Watkins Senior Center located at the Upper Darby Township Community Complex, 326 Watkins Avenue, services area seniors 60 years and over in all aspects of their lives. Funded thru Upper Darby Township and County Offices of Services for the Aging (COSA), the center is multi-faceted and also provides nutrition services both in-house and on a homebound basis. Special events such as field trips and health fairs take place, and each year the center hosts several of the Delaware County Senior Games events. In 2005, the Upper Darby Senior Center earned the distinction of being a nationally accredited center by meeting the rigid standards required for this recognition. The mission of the Senior Center is achieved six days a week as seniors participate in a myriad of programs including line dancing, bingo, crafts, card games, ping-pong, tai-chai, and walking activities. There is also a full-size fitness room, poolroom, and gymnasium on the premises as well as a computer lab, outside garden, and hairdressing salon. The Bernardine Center

Bernardine Center's food cupboard supplies nutritious food to eligible families. If a family of four has a net monthly income less than $2,981 or an annual income less than $35,775 they qualify for supplemental food programs. The Center serves approximately 500 persons per month. Currently, 18 persons confined to their homes are also served each month. The Bernardine Center receives some of its food supply from government sources while a majority of food is donated by area churches, organizations and individuals by way of actual in-kind food or monetary donations. The Bernardine Center is a founding member of Delaware County Interfaith Food Assistance Network (DIFAN) that consists of twelve food pantries which work cooperatively to serve about 400,000 persons annually.
