Since 1959, the Yellow Springs Seniors Center has focused on meeting the needs of people aged 55 and over in Yellow Springs and Miami Township. Located in a private building in the Yellow Springs business district, the Center is governed by a 9-member supervisory board, chosen by the membership. A part-time director, a part-time financial assistant, and several part-time employees provide services and manage and oversee programs. Volunteers offer more than 3,800 hours of service per year to older people in the community. Visitors to the Center are quick to realize the diversity represented by their members. They quickly realized what they had in common - their commitment to help others, their desire to change the status quo, their dedication to many interests and activities, their spirit of innovation.
