Mountain Grove Senior Center

The Senior Center offers a new direction to friendship, fun, and healthy living. In the early 1980s, the SWMOA Board of Directors made a permanent commitment to helping senior organizations acquire local ownership. This would ensure a future for senior citizens' centers, even if their funding ceases. To fulfill this commitment, SWMOA began to encourage older corporations to purchase older center buildings with the confidence that they would then rent or lease the building from them for services. Revenues from their rent or lease payments helped older people to successfully own their buildings without debt. Today, they provide services through 38 senior centers. Their   senior centers are usually open from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, and are managed by an SWMOA employee, whose title is Senior Center Administrator. Their   centers are committed to serving the full range of seniors, from the healthy, active senior who wants to use their skills and lifelong experience to make a difference in their community through volunteering, to the frail senior who needs help with the needs of daily living. ..
