Friends in Action Senior Center

5 General Moore Way
Ellsworth, ME - 04605
(207)664-6016
The senior center was added to Friends in Action programs in 2008 when they launched the Visit with Friends Senior Coffee House at a local church. In 2009, the City of Ellsworth and the Down East Family YMCA invited Friends in Action to offer a social program for seniors at the former Bryant E. Moore School. When the school was renovated to serve as a community center, the Friends in Action Senior Center expanded to offer many health and wellness, socialization, and enrichment programs. Something's going on every day! There are comfortable places to read a book or access WiFi, participate in a fitness class or work out in the gym, and a senior meal program (cooked on-site in partnership with the YMCA) is offered two times per week. The Senior Center is located on 5 General Moore Way, away from State Street in Ellsworth. Hours of Operation: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In most days of the week. Membership is free and many programs are free. There is a paid schedule for fitness classes and meals, as well as some enrichment classes. They   ask everyone to log in when entering the building to ensure everyone's safety. The "Senior" in the Senior Center is a vague term; they generally refer to adults over 50, but many of their programs are open to people of all ages and the community center is open to everyone in Hancock County, ages 0-99+. They   share this space with the YMCA Early Learning Center for Young Children, so it is an active and vibrant place. People who need special care or assistance must be accompanied by a caregiver. For first time visitors, they are happy to give you a tour. You will find that you will soon be at home here and that you have many new friends! ..
