This office offers Emergency Home Energy Assistance for the elderly (EHEAP), serving low-income families, with at least one person aged 60 years or older, when households are experiencing a home energy emergency. A domestic energy emergency may result from an overdue utility bill, a lack of fuel or wood, or the receipt of a stop notice. Payments are for heating or cooling of households and other emergency energy-related expenses during the heating (October-March) and cooling (April-September) seasons . Eligible households will receive one benefit per season, up to a maximum of USD 600 per season. Program beneficiaries can receive vouchers to purchase blankets, portable heaters, and fans. The program can also help cover the cost of repairing or reconnecting existing heating or cooling equipment. Eligibility: Documented emergency heating or cooling of at least one person 60 years of age or older in the home, and gross annual household income equal to or less than 150 percent of federal anti-poverty directives.
