Services: Offers Emergency Home Energy Assistance for the Elderly Program (EHEAP), supports low-income households with at least one person aged 60 years and older when an energy emergency occurs in the household. Home energy emergencies can be caused by delinquent utility bills, fuel or wood shortages, or the receipt of a shut-off notice. Payments are for heating or cooling at home and other energy emergency costs during heating (October-March) and cooling (April-September) seasons. Eligible families can receive one benefit per season, up to $600 per season. Program beneficiaries can receive vouchers to buy blankets, portable heaters and fans. The program can also assists to pay for repairs to existing heating or cooling systems or re-connection costs.
