The Shelter Project of the Community Action Board of Santa Cruz County operates the Housing for Medical Emergencies Program (motel vouchers), Emergency Rent/Mortgage Assistance to avoid eviction, Shelter Hotline, and The Message Center (voice mail for homeless people).
Provides free medical and mental health care and referral services throughout Santa Cruz County to homeless or marginally housed adults. This program operates on a first come, first serve basis. In addition to medical care, offers dental referrals, help obtaining IDs, pet food, and hygiene kits. Hours: Mon & Wed 8 am - 5 pm, Tue & Th 1 - 5 pm, Fri 8 am - 3 pm
Offers teen center, financial health services, various classes, food distribution, assistance applying for food stamps/health insurance, health clinics, translation, transportation (limited area), translation, computer access, and referral services. Hours: Mon-Th 9 am - 5 pm, Fri 9 am - 3 pm
Provides help to the impoverished, homeless, and mentally challenged of any culture. Services include assistance with counseling, medical, employment, and food.
Provides extensive case management for expectant families. All services are free, adoption information, abortion and pregnancy information, pre-natal vitamins, pregnancy testing & verification, ultrasound, peri-natal & post-abortion counseling (provided to incarcerated women as well as those in the community). Nurse consultations, medical and community referrals, maternity clothing, counseling, and support by trained staff.
Legal assistance for low-income residents. Priority given to clients with landlord-tenant problems, Medi-Cal, AFDC & unemployment insurance benefits, judgment collection, and public education. No domestic law, criminal, or immigration services are offered. Hours: Mon-Fri 8:30 am - 12 pm & 1 - 5 pm
