Bethesda Cares Inc, is a community-based response to homelessness issues. In partnership with Bethesda area municipalities, schools, businesses, county government, community groups and individuals, Bethesda Cares has been providing shelter for the homeless and working poor in Montgomery County since 1988. Services offered included: lunch, medical care, showers, toiletries, clothing, scoops, referrals and a job search center. Bethesda Cares also provides subsidies for eviction prevention and assistance with utility payments for those on the brink of homelessness. Volunteer opportunities include office work, teachers/trainers, newsletters and project proposals, lunch, dinner, sewing, storage and sorting of toiletries, fundraising and special projects.
