The Lawrence Multipurpose Senior Center is the community facility, designated by the Executive Office of Elder Affairs and the Area Agency on Aging, where older adults come together for services and activities that reflect their experience and skills, respond to their diverse needs and interests, enhance their dignity, support their independence and encourage their involvement with the center and the community. The Lawrence Senior Center provides: Health and social services; Information; Legal and housing services; Nutritious meals; Opportunities to participate in intergenerational activities; Recreation and educational activities; Referral and counseling; Special trips; Teach classes and perform clerical and other center related functions; Transportation; Volunteer on committees. Senior Citizens know there is a place that seniors can go to remedy the problems of isolation. There is a place where they can find out about community resources to help with a problem or to gain access to complex and anonymous bureaucracies. There is a place in the community where older people are not only understood and valued but where they are the reason for its existence, where older persons are not only consumers but also where they are the most important customers.
