The Newburgh Senior Center is a "Daytime Place where Seniors Congregate" Their mission is to offer the highest quality services for mature adults by promoting a warm and caring environment where individuals can explore and enjoy a variety of activities to enrich their lives. Their goal is for the Newburgh Senior Center to be the preferred destination for seniors interested in camaraderie, nutritious meals, education, outreach services, entertainment and adventure. The Center has more than 140 members, most of whom live independently in houses or apartments in and around Newburgh. Regularly scheduled monthly activities include: cards, crafts, computer/internet access and education, health and fitness activities, a reading room, bingo, live entertainment, Tai Chi, consumer education, volunteer opportunities, and even a kazoo band that entertains itself in the community. Most activities are free. The Center is an independent non-profit organization, 501(c)(3) that serves people in the area through grants, fundraisers, donations and sponsorship.
