Since 1971, the Wallingford Senior Center has provided services and activities for Wallingford residents age 60 and over. The Center is governed by the Wallingford Committee on Aging, Inc. Board of Directors and is primarily funded by the Town of Wallingford. Our beautiful 20,000 sq. ft. building opened in 2001, and the Wallingford Senior Center became accredited by the National Institute of Senior Centers (NISC) in 2006. The friendly, well-trained staff is devoted to the needs of a diverse population: from active, older and newly retired adults, to the homebound and those with physical and social difficulties. The Senior Center staff also provides information and referrals to families and caregivers of older persons in need of assistance. Senior Center participants include those of all economic and cultural backgrounds, ranging in age from 60 to over 100. The mission of the Wallingford Senior Center is to provide services and programs for older adults of the Wallingford community that enhance their dignity, support their independence, and invite their involvement in community life. The involvement of members as volunteer staff, group leaders, advisors and fundraisers, enables the Senior Center to offer a large variety of high quality services and programs rich in diversity.
