Our Food Security Program helps some 4,000 no and low income residents of the Inland Valley access high-quality, healthy food resources each month with 5 program centers located in Pomona, Ontario, San Dimas, Claremont and South Pomona plus 2 once/month food distributions in Upland and Chino. At our sites,clients are provided with a 4-5 day supply of food every 30 days (homeless every two weeks). Families may also receive fresh produce through our partnership with Amy's Farm (a working farm that donates a sizeable share of its harvest to our program) when available. Serving more than 3,500 elderly people monthly, the George M. Gibson Center Senior Center is not only a place for a nutritious meal five days a week, but also an activity center for those 50 years of age and older in the community. Visitors to the Center will find an environment that encourages adults to leave their homes and interact with others with similar interests in a warm and welcoming environment. There are more than 40 classes and activities each week, more than half of which are free and a great place to spend the day. From belly dance classes to men's poker, from computer workshops to pool tournaments, from ping-pong to yoga, with different activities in between, Gibson Senior Center is committed to keeping seniors both mentally and physically active. If it's not a class or activity that interests you, one of the various clubs that meet at the center may be more your cup of tea. After 50 fun will surely keep you busy with your monthly casino trips, potlucks or weekly bingo games. AARP can be more your style with their monthly guest lectures and potlucks. The Gibson Center receives free monthly health lectures with community physicians, free non-invasive medical exams, free AARP Tax Assistant courses, AARP 55 Alive Driver Safety, a free flu shooting clinic and wellness fair, non-biased medical insurance advice, and a plethora of services at little or no cost to seniors.
